Happy Halloween!
I saw the movie "The Stepfather" last night. It was pretty good. Was your standerd horror thriller. If you saw "Disturbia" and liked it, then you will like this.
Also saw "Gamer" recently. I think the action genre is where Gerard Butler shines as an actor and he was terrific in this!
Who is the lady that is in the commercial for the V mini series remake? She is one of the Aliens? She is creepy.

Devotional
For one of my Writing classes, The assignment was to write a devotional.
Here is what I wrote.
He who began a good work in you
Every once in a while I tend to stray from God. I don't mean to do it, it just
happens. But when I fall away from God, something always happens to bring me right back to
his side.
I grew up on a farm in a small town in Michigan however after graduating from
high school, I was accepted to college at Brown Institute in Minnesota. I was a small town kid
who was not prepared for the big city and I was about to be tested in a way that I have never
experienced.
We had just come to the end of the fourth day overdue. Our son was scheduled to
arrive into this world on the 28th of September but just like his dad, he decided to take his time.
We had just arrived home from having dinner at Red Lobster when her water broke! The
moment that we had been waiting for had finally arrived.
We immediately left for the hospital, was checked in and moved to a room. They
completed the necessary confirmation that officially determined that she was in labor and then
the waiting began. A couple of hours passed, but she wasn't making any progress. The decision
was then made to administer a drug that would help it along. By 10 am the next day, she finally
began active labor. The next couple of hours were hectic and difficult. I have to give a lot of
credit to my ex-wife, I think she made it thru the active labor better than I did! After eight hours
of active labor my ex-wife had began to feel the urge to push, a nurse did an examination and
discovered that she was fully dilated
After awhile of pushing, no progress was being made. During an ultrasound that
was performed a few months prior to the delivery, it was discovered that my son had a larger
than normal head, again he is taking after his dad. It was determined that he couldn't enter the
birth canal due to the size of his head, so the decision was made to deliver via cesarean section.
Christopher Ray Walker was delivered at 2:13 am on October the 2nd. There were
complications. They had given my ex-wife a spinal tap to prepare her for the operation and some
of the medication had passed on to Christopher, when he was delivered he was not breathing.
They preformed neo natal resuscitation and were able to revive him. During the operation my ex-
wife lost a lot of blood and needed a blood transfusion.
I walked into that hospital with a wife that I had only been married to a year and a son on
the way. I almost walked out of that hospital 48 hours later with nothing. After I checked on my
son and my ex-wife and made sure they were going to be ok, I went straight to the hospitals
chapel and fell to my knees and praised God.
When I was in High School, I was a member of a Christian singing group and one of the
songs that we sang was "He who began a good work in you". This experience reminded me of
some of the lyrics from that song
"If the struggle you're facing is slowly replacing your hope with despair or the process is
long and you're losing your song
in the night. You can be sure that the Lord Has His hand
on you safe and secure He will never abandon you. You are his treasure and he finds his
pleasure in you"
I felt lost and run down by the fast pace style of the big city and had fallen away from
God. This was a memorable experience that had reminded me that God is in control and it
Brought me back to his side.

A Perfect Getaway
This movie starred Steve Zahn, Milla Jovovich and Timothy Olyphant.
This was a typical action thriller with a twist at the end. If you haven't seen it and plan to, I won't reveal the twist I promise.
This movie was directed by David Twohy.
I saw it at the local two dollar theater wich since it was released a little over a month ago, I am will assume it didn't do very well at the box office.
I liked it. It wasn't anything that just blew me away or anything, but it was good.
Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich are a newly married couple that are on the honeymoon in Hawaii when word gets out that there is a couple on a killing spree. I should probably stop there, if I reveal anymore then I might just spoil it for the rest of you. I am used to seeing Steve Zahn cast as the comedic relief or the comedic lead in a film, his role in this film was nowhere near that so I personally thought he was miscasted. However, I have only seen Milla Jovovich in these types of films and she does a great job. AT the beginning of the film, I was a little concerned that she too may have been miscasted also, however as the film goes on my concerns were alleviated. In regards to Mr. Olyphant, his star just continues to get brighter. He does a good job also but I cant help but wonder if he drew any inspiration from the character he played in Scream 2 for his role in this film.
If you are looking for a good action film then definitely see this.

Movies
I am a movie nerd. I will admit it. I love to go to the theater and get a snack and sit in the
air conditioned environment and watch a good movie. I have become very picky in choosing
which movies I want to see. It's so darn expensive nowadays! If it insults my intelligence by
going for the cheap laughs then I must pass. I like something original and deep. I like something
that moves me, something that blows me away. I love pretty much all the genres. In this essay, I
will take a look at the different genres and the movies that I like that fall under those genres.
Starting off with the Horror movie, I have to explain something right away. I don't like
just any horror movie. If the movie is just one big gory body count then I will not see it. The
movie has to have a very interesting and fascinating plot. If it deals with something that is truly
terrifying, something that could happen in real life, I would classify that as a good movie. I have
a slight fear of the dark so when I saw "The Grudge", It truly shook me. I recently saw "The
Happening" directed by M. Night Shyamalan, It touched an inner fear that I have in regards to a
huge horrific event taking place and I can't get to my loved ones. It also truly shook me. But it
was also a very well done film. Here are other horror movies that I have enjoyed, The Saw
series, Halloween(original and remake),Candyman and Scream 1 and 3.
Moving on to the action movie, Growing up I was a huge fan of the Indiana Jones
franchise. To be honest I still am today. When I take a look at the heroes of some of the action
films that I have enjoyed and I look at what they have in common; they face enormous odds and
they pull through. I always found that to be inspiring. Here are some of the action movies that I
have enjoyed, Bad Boys 1 and 2, Rush Hour 1-3, The Indiana Jones series and pretty much
anything done by Michael Bay.
The Science Fiction movie. The year was 1982 and we were at "The Sanilac" movie
theater in Sandusky Michigan. We were there to see the movie "Star Trek 2 The Wrath of
Khan". At the end of the film, the character of Spock dies. My Mom was sitting to my left and
she cried! I was embarrassed. Now granted she was pregnant with my little brother at the time,
but it was still embarrassing. I will never forget that night, I was 5 years old when I saw that
movie. When the big screen came alive with the giant starships and the planets and space, I was
hooked and have been ever since. Here are some of the Science Fiction movies that I have
enjoyed over the years, Star Trek 2-4 and the recent prequel, Star Wars 1-6 and Serenity.
When writing about Dramatic movies, I get to talk about my all time favorite movie. My
all time favorite movie is "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". It is my all time favorite
cause it spoke to me on a personal level. With what I have had to deal with over the past couple
of years, I was afraid that I had missed my shot at having a happy and successful life. I learned
from watching this movie that it is never too late to pick yourself up and try again. It is the only
movie that left me in tears when it was done. Here are some of the Dramatic movies that I have
enjoyed over the years, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, No Country for Old Men, There
will be Blood, Good Night and Good Luck, The Wrestler and The Fog of War.
The Comedy Genre. I have found that my taste for the comedic genre has changed
throughout the years. I use to like pretty much anything that would make me laugh but not
anymore. For example, The movie "Made of Honor" which was released last year. It stars
Patrick Dempsey as a guy who is asked by his female best friend to be her Maid of Honor.
Whoever thought that one up shouldn't be allowed to make anymore movies! I just don't find it
necessary to pay 8 bucks to go see something that insults my intelligence. Here are some of the
comedic films that I have enjoyed, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty, Evan Almighty, Austin Powers,
Juno and Thank You for Smoking.
I have seen some really good movies and some really awful movies. Going to see a film
helps get my mind off of things, it cheers me up and sometimes helps me to refocus. I have
enjoyed going to the movies ever since I was a young child and will continue for years to come!
